everyone has a "bad name" in the end
I think I'm a very easy goin' gal for the most part ... things that get me upset/frustrated:
- stupid people ("Christians" included)
- arrogant people
- road kill
- when I don't understand simple things
- when others don't understand simple things
So today began like any other normal day ... I woke up late, arrived to work late, worked, ate lunch at my desk while on the internet (including checking both email accounts, browsing MSN.com, and attempting to participate at Yahoo Answers). I enjoy going on Yahoo Answers for many reasons, one is that I'm interested in others' views on life itself and life's many questions. Today I came across this one question:
Why do some christians act like they do no wrong and that they are superiour to others?
i mean seriously has any of you christians read your own history about all the volence hatred? people who are fighting back are the ones who have been hurt by christians in the past and today many christians beat up non christians on the streets or preach where they are not welcomed and some even try to convince non christians that they are going to hell.
When I first read the question, I was going to answer it with some stupid smart ass response because no one really knows who I am, so it's okay.... that's how I answer most questions on that particular website. But then, I clicked on the question, read the paragraph underneath, cringed at the spelling and grammatical errors, scrolled down, began reading all the other answers, and silently yelled at a lot of the people (thinking, of course, that they could hear me)!!
I do not like conflict, I never have, but some of these people seriously just need to be slapped or something drastic like that to wake them up! I realize that Yahoo Answers isn't exactly the "end all" resource for how ignorant people are, but I think the website attracts the majority of the ignoramuses out there.
I guess I just don't understand how people can call themselves Christians and try to answer a question from, obviously, a person who is not a Christian, when they don't even know what the heck they're talking about! These are the morons who make the rest of the normal Christians look foolish. I just feel like NO ONE gets it!
This same principle goes for the people who are not Christians and don't ever want to be a Christian or even hear anything about Christianity. There they are trying to say how awful Christians are by using long elaborate answers of no substance. They don't know what they're talking about either....... I really feel like NO ONE gets it!
The world would be a much better place if everyone knew what they were talking about, but that's never going to happen because the laziest people who don't want anything to do with educating themselves or having intelligent conversations/debates want the most say in everything that happens in the universe. And the non-lazy people who are educated, know what they're talking about, and could so totally change the world don't want to offend anyone so they keep there intelligence traps shut and don't share anything from their brain with anyone... what's the use of their education then?
I don't want to discredit the people, however, who stand strong in what they believe and are well-versed in what they believe and are willing to share it.... in this case, I say, "Converse!"

the beginning of the month for giving thanks.
c. Nov. 7 - Aaron and I are complaining about how early the "Christmas Spirit" arrives (too far before Thanksgiving)
Nov. 11 - Aaron, Adam, Aunt Shelly, Sherry, and I go to Walmart to buy a birthday present and end up in the Christmas section.... Aaron hears the hippopotamus song, and is suddenly in the Christmas mood................
Nov. 12 - Aaron and I put up our Christmas village
Nov. 13 - Aaron and I go back to Walmart and buy the tree we were looking at. Also, a nativity set and some trees for the fore mentioned village. We go back home, set up the nativity set, declare that it is bedtime..... stay up for a bit longer and decide to put the tree up. Then we went through all the decorations that my mom had given us a bit earlier in the evening. We set out the little Christmas/winter trinkets.
Nov. 14 - We are almost completely decorated for Christmas... all that is left is decorating the Christmas tree and putting lights on our windows, which we will probably do tonight or Thursday.
A lot changed in, what?, 7 days....

wasted nation

I was thinking today (I know it's a shock, but I'm a brunette now, so it's allowed) about how wasteful we humans are. Everyone is theoretically so gung-ho about recycling and preserving our resources, but do people really care? I'm sure there are some hippies out there who recycle and reuse everything, but the majority of us, yes I'm including myself, don't really give a dead rat's royal hiny about preserving natural resources. Heck, I'm not even totally sure why other people care... most things that we use to make other things reproduce naturally.
So, I was just kidding about the whole "I don't care about God's green earth" thing. I do care, but I'm torn. I would love to take all of my paper, aluminum, old computers, batteries, light bulbs, and plastic to a place that would recycle the items, make something from them, and sell the new stuff for people to reuse the material that I recycled. The truth is, though, that even if we were to take everything recyclable to a recycling facility, would we buy the recycled goods? ....Honestly?? Probably not. I gross out when I go to a fast food place, and their napkins or carry out bags are "Made from Recycled Paper." What kind of paper was recycled to make this napkin that I'm wiping my face off with... ah, the beautiful mystery.
I work for a company that collects material such as batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, computers ... pretty much anything that is recyclable except paper, we take it. Anyway so they collect all this stuff and send to a recycling facility in Mason, MI where people recycle these items. This is all great and you're probably wondering why I'm rambling on and on and on about the place I work.... well, in our offices we have these recycling bins to put all our paper in and some people come out about once a month to empty the bins, take it back to their company, and recycle the paper for reuse. The thing that ticks me off though is that when I make my order for Staples, I'm not allowed to order recycled paper for us to use because it's more expensive than regular, non-recycled paper... what is the stupid point of making it practically mandatory to recycle paper but not following through with the process which is to reuse.
I'm pretty sure life will continue as it is without doing the complete recycling process, but it's still upsetting to me that I have the same "Recycle, but don't reuse" mindset as the company I work for.
Don't even get me started on how much food is wasted! Just eat what you have on your plate. Who cares if you don't like it ... if it's gross, it's probably good for you! Consume those nasty nutrients like there's no tomorrow!!!

small complaining time
So, I've been looking for a new job for, hmm... about three months now and nothing has come of it. Then the other night I saw my cousin, Bambi, who is doing very well for herself and her situation. She just got a new car, she's living on her own, her credit is good, and everything seems to be going her way. Really, I'm happy for her! ...but I was so inwardly upset when she told me she has TWO jobs! Good jobs, too! Not just like, "Oh, I work at McDonalds during the day, and I'm a stripper at night" kind of jobs... she works at TWO different lawyers' offices. Hello!!! I would love that! Not two, but just one. The economy here in Michigan sucks, and everyone who knows the name of the state knows that. And I understand that it's hard
to find a job in a bad economy, but if each person would have only ONE job, then there would be more jobs to go around. But, no.... you have people who are taking up two job slots. And that's the only thing I'm complaining about, I think.Aaron is going to coach an elementary school basketball team, which is AWESOME!! I can't wait to bake cookies for the little fellas!! I'm going to be a coach's wife... how cute! tee hee
'Tis all for now ... will "blog" later, if I have the opportunity!!

Big Potato, Big Big Potato

So ... I just wanted to tell everyone about The Potato Place in Detroit on Warren Ave. GREAT POTATOES! these are good! They don't have a website and I don't know the phone number, so just go! It's right across the street from Wayne State University................
These potatoes are advertised as 20 oz. potatoes and I didn't believe that for one minute, so I decided to pay $7 for the potato and just find out for myself... HOLY CRAP! I've never not been able to finish a meal and all this was was a POTATO! Seriously, delicious, but I could only eat half. I thought about trying to shove it in but remembered the whole gluttony thing, and, hey, I'll just eat the rest for lunch tomorrow ... wow, a potato (the same one) for lunch two days in a row! I think I may be growing an extra limb or something like that as I sit here and type ... talk about the growth hormones they had to pump into these plants! I can't even imagine.... not that I would want to - so good!

I can't see you, my eyes are in the way

Interesting morning...
Last night, I fell asleep watching TV with my glasses on - well, I can't see without them, but because I fell asleep, Aaron took them off me and put them on the table. Those who know me, know I'm very hard to wake up and I can sleep through pretty much anything, so the glasses coming off didn't phase my sleeping-ness at all!
Well, this morning I let the alarm go off, I hit "snooze" and went back to sleep for the nine minutes that the snooze button allows. When it went off again, I just let it go until it turned itself off after a minute of the annoying noise that it is... I fell back asleep for like five more minutes and woke up in sheer panic - "What time is it?" "Am I already late for work?" "Is that drool on my pillow?" "Seriously, what time is it?" - I jumped up, walked carefully to the microwave, shoved my face against the bright green fluorescent numbers ... 6:20. I was fine, I would just have to take a quick shower...
The next step was to find my glasses and return them to my naked face. I walked to the kitchen table where my glasses are usually put at night ... I'm feeling, I'm feeling ... NOTHING! I woke Aaron up - "Where did you put my glasses last night?" "On the table," he said........... We searched the table, through the entire couch bed, on the floor, EVERYWHERE!!!! We could not find them. I stopped looking after a while feeling helpless with my walking slowly and meerly feeling around in the darkness. Aaron gave up after a while too and told me to find an old pair and wear them for the day... I don't have any old glasses.
I finally decided to turn on some lights, I went to the bathroom, decided in my head what I was going to wear today, brushed my hair and returned to the dining/living room where I had slept the night before. I was not going to give up on looking for my glasses. So, I went to the kitchen, where we failed to look when we were frantically searching before. There they were... on the counter, just hangin' out. I put them on, and looked at the time again... holy moly! It was 6:35!! I had to leave for work in five minutes if I wanted to be on time and I wasn't even dressed yet! So, I was late for work all because I was blinded by my very own eyes.

#1 Post...
Perhaps I should introduce myself first. I'm Danielle, and I live in Michigan with my husband, Aaron. I'm a part of a church, "The Journey," that is totally led by Jesus, and it consists of the most wonderful people I have ever met.
Since I don't really know what to write about, I guess I'll start out with what happened in the past couple of days/nights... that sounds good.
Saturday morning was family picture time! I was so not looking forward to it, but I got a new outfit and felt really pretty in it, so it was all worth it... we weren't late for once in my life and actually beat Aaron's brother and sister-in-law to the place. Taking the picture went well and was even kinda fun being squished into a little square with everyone... After pictures were over, I went to watch Aaron play flag football and ended up sitting with Miss Vicki talking the whole time about random topics. After football, we relaxed and ate lunch and then went to my in-laws' house for a game night, not necessarily to watch the World Series game, but to play Cranium with everyone. There were some small arguments, but everything turned out okay.....
Sunday we took my mother-in-law out for lunch for her birthday. That was fun. They made her get up on the booth and be embarrassed for the whole restaurant to see. We had a waiter named Skyler, and he smelled really good. He moved here like 3 months ago. Evidently this is why:
His mom has lived here in Michigan for like 6 or 7 years. He lived and went to school in New Orleans, LA when Hurricane Katrina hit. He then moved to Baton Rouge. He recently found out is mom has cancer and moved up here to take care of her.Aaron, being the nicest and most warm-hearted person ever in the world, started talking to him and asking him what he did for fun, if he was in school and other various things. Then he invited him to play flag football with everyone on Saturday mornings. Skyler nicely told him that he started working at 10am every Saturday and wouldn't be able to make it unless he had a day off. I was so touched by his attitude, he was so happy and talkative and not fake about it either, like he wasn't letting anything that was going on in his life get to him ... there was a sort of peace about him... I would love to have that be a part of my being.
